Magadan grew on with “Territory”. “Territory” is the name of a new boutique-hotel in the administrative centre of Kolyma region.the construction, that started in 2021, was not easy: difficulties with delivery of the materials, harsh climate, but just recently the hotel opened its doors. The key idea of the project is to create a hotel for tourists that visit for VIP-hunting and fishing in the exotic nature of the Sea of Okhost’s coast. The first basement floor hosts the reception with the lobby-bar, a spacious hall, a conference centre with two halls, a guest parking lot for 13 cars, a shopping area and. Laundry. The second and third floors host the guest rooms. Also, the hotel has its restaurant with the glazed terrace “Wild North”. The restaurant serves the dishes of the northern cuisine, its concept highlights the natural riches of the region and authenticity of the place. In general, the style of “Territory” can be identified as modern. The original idea to make everything in the fashionable minimalist style based on the concrete structures was rejected, the material was excluded due to the climate, concrete would look depressive here; but the wood ideally integrates into the natural and ideologic landscape. It is the headline in the design. Thanks to its warm colour palette it creates the mood in the interior, demonstrates its texture (the interior boasts a lot of woodcarving) and makes the space cosy. A complex technique marquetry was used for the decor panel, all the patterns and ornaments are from the indigenous people folklore and identify the location, ie the territory. A very skilful work of the local carpentry shop is rather notable. Traits of the modern style are in the use of technology, thus, the hotel’s lobby hosts an enormous LED screen that demonstrates films on the beauty of the Kolyma region, unique in terms of fishing and real hunting. As for the restaurant, its design shows several art-objects. For example, the backs of the chairs are in the shape if a fishtail, lights boasts decorative fish. And the stuffed orca (under the ceiling) and a bear, once more highlight the theme of hunting and fishing and are a striking accent touch. “Territory” has got it all to become a hot spot for the city’s guests and natives of Magadan. It’s a proposed venue for various public events, some local artists’ exhibitions are already being hosted there. Due to its well thought over design, the hotel “Territory” is perceive as harmonious and natural in terms of its environment. The launch of the hotel, no doubt, will stimulate the development of tourism in the region, since it is one of the prime locations for hosting guests, and, perhaps, the hallmark of the city.
