Transforming a historical monument into a hotel with Radisson’s brand requirements was challenging for the @surgula_studio team. A lot of architectural decisions had to be made to maintain the authenticity of the old post office building. Parallel to the restoration works we created spaces covered with the modern prototype of the “shushabandi” (wooden curtain walls) to increase the number of hotel rooms to the required number. The combination of natural stone, brick, and wood… adds character to the building. In that way, we think the capital has one more charming place, which keeps Tbilisi’s historical memories.
