Monorail station in Mestia - connection with the world
Location: Mestia
This is the diploma project proposes the design of an electric monorail system from Zugdidi to Mestia, Georgia, with five stops along the route. The project connects two worlds: the mountains, often cut off during harsh winters, and the world (city). By solving the problem of seasonal disconnection, it supports mountain communities, addressing social and demographic challenges while enhancing accessibility and tourism. As the first monorail system in the Caucasus, it introduces an innovative and sustainable transport solution. The main architectural focus, the Mestia station, combines local building traditions with contemporary design, creating a cultural and functional landmark that bridges tradition and modernity.
