IMPRINT — Tactile Art Museum IMPRINT is a proposed tactile art museum within the Expo Georgia complex in Tbilisi, where touch becomes a primary means of discovering and understanding art. Its name expresses the lasting impression that a direct encounter with an artwork leaves in human memory. The project draws conceptual inspiration from Museo Omero in Ancona, Italy—a museum that has made the exploration of art through touch a shared cultural experience. Building on this approach, IMPRINT creates an environment where blind, partially sighted, and sighted visitors explore the same collection through different senses. Tactile replicas of sculptures, reliefs, and architectural models offer direct access to form, proportion, and texture. The architecture brings together low volumes set at different angles. A central foyer connects them, providing a clear point of orientation and distributing visitor circulation. The exhibition wing unfolds around an elongated courtyard, while the second wing accommodates the workshop, administration, and support facilities. Collection storage and preparation spaces support museum operations, while the workshop extends the experience of exploring exhibits into creative practice. The interplay of solid, textured surfaces and glazed openings defines the building’s character. Planted internal spaces bring daylight deep into the interior and create opportunities to pause along the exhibition route. The single-storey layout, step-free approach, and clear spatial sequence are designed to support independent movement and discovery. Positioned between the street and Expo Georgia’s green spaces, the museum complements the existing exhibition setting with a permanent educational function. IMPRINT aims to broaden access to art and create a shared environment where different abilities become a starting point for exchanging experiences.
