"And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, a pleasant place; and there He put the man whom He had chosen." A place seemingly empty and unfamiliar, standing alone by itself, where emotions are scarce and only the fear of the unknown exists. A single road leading nowhere, untrodden, dark, and unexpected; an arch that beckons us toward it, yet speaks not of its intentions nor what lies beyond. Curiosity drives us to attempt this path, as, weary from earthly life, you seek a place to rest and bring joy to your soul. Enclosed in darkness between massive walls, a single thought, a word, awakens in the mind and grants no rest: "Who shall walk in darkness and have no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord and rely upon his God." Soon, a light appears in the heart, and then the eyes perceive it as well. Gradually, the divine light shines brighter and brighter, further awakening both soul and body, filling them with love. Radiant with divine grace, you are filled with carefree joy, knowing that as long as God is with you, darkness does not exist for you—for you also know that "the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." After emerging into the dazzling light, you arrive at a place people call "Eden." A place where there is no evil, no envy or malice, no sadness or solitude, but rather everlasting joy and happiness, friendship and love, and unity. An opportunity and a chance to comprehend all earthly knowledge, to see what human beings are capable of when their souls are filled with love, to understand the power you possess when faith is with you, and to press forward into the future or return to the origins—where it all began. The project site is located on a lake near the city of Zugdidi. As we know, a large Abkhazian population lives in Zugdidi, and many also cross over from the occupied territories to receive various services. In our view, this is precisely where the strongest possible love and unity are needed, which are among the main themes of the competition. The main part of the building cannot be seen from the approach road; a person arriving here seems unable to comprehend where they have ended up, and to continue their path, they enter an arch-shaped entrance and follow a semi-dark corridor, seeing nothing but sunlight ahead. At this moment, a person undergoes a metamorphosis—after walking through untrodden darkness, they emerge into a vast, bright, open space with abundant opportunities to partake in various forms of knowledge, meet people, rest, and simply reflect on life. Guided by the architecture, the environment, and the knowledge and emotions gained here, one draws closer to God and finds the truth. Symbols abound: the arch shape at the main entrance, the same form defining the building itself, as well as arches on its facade. The crown of this architectural creation is a garden arranged on a lower (minus) level—the main site of spiritual purification, a sanctuary for souls, adorned with bas-reliefs of the Georgian alphabet. Throughout various spaces of the building, we experience a play of natural light, color, and texture, along with different scenarios that a person inadvertently navigates. It is precisely by evoking various emotions in a person that we strive to achieve the desired result. We will see how small a human being can be, yet at the same time, what immense power they possess when driven by love. Briefly, this is the concept, and hopefully, the project itself will speak for the rest.
